How Often Should You Service Your TAG Heuer?
TAG Heuer recommends servicing mechanical watches every 3–5 years, though well-maintained pieces with clean environments and no impacts can often go 5–7 years between services. The lubricants inside a mechanical movement eventually dry out or migrate — even if the watch looks and feels fine — and servicing before total failure is significantly cheaper than a repair job after one.
For quartz models (Formula 1, Link Quartz, Connected battery models), a battery check every 2–3 years is the key interval. An exhausted battery that is left inside can leak and damage the movement — a far more costly repair than a timely battery change.
Signs Your TAG Heuer Needs Servicing
- Gaining or losing more than ±15 seconds per day (mechanical)
- Power reserve shorter than usual for an automatic
- Crown stiff, gritty, or difficult to push in
- Chronograph start, stop, or reset feels inconsistent (chronograph models)
- Moisture, condensation, or fogging visible under the crystal
- Unusual ticking, grinding, or scraping sounds from the movement
- Bracelet links or clasp feeling loose or misaligned
TAG Heuer Servicing Cost in Singapore
Our mechanical movement overhaul starts from S$350 — the exact price is confirmed after a free assessment, as cost varies by calibre complexity and parts condition. Battery replacement starts from S$20. Chronograph service (Heuer 02, Heuer 01, Valjoux 7750) is quoted individually after inspection due to the additional complexity of the chronograph module.
Authorised TAG Heuer service centres charge a significant premium over independent workshop rates, with typical turnaround times of 8–12 weeks or longer. For watches out of manufacturer warranty, an independent service at our workshop delivers professional-quality results at a considerably lower cost.
Should I Use an Authorised Service Centre or an Independent?
If your TAG Heuer is still within its original manufacturer warranty, we recommend using the authorised service centre to preserve it. For out-of-warranty watches — which describes the vast majority of TAG Heuer pieces in Singapore — an independent workshop offers the same professional service at a fraction of the cost and with faster turnaround.
We use professional-grade tools and appropriate lubricants for each calibre. We are not authorised by TAG Heuer or LVMH, and we do not use TAG Heuer branding in our work — what we do is skilled independent watchmaking.
The Heuer 02 — TAG Heuer's Flagship Chronograph
Introduced in 2012, the Heuer 02 is TAG Heuer's in-house column wheel chronograph movement, used across the Carrera, Monaco, and Autavia lines. It features a vertical clutch (smoother start at the first second) and a column wheel (more precise actuation than a cam-actuated mechanism), making it one of the more technically sophisticated chronograph movements in the mid-luxury segment.
Servicing the Heuer 02 requires careful disassembly of the chronograph module from the base movement, individual cleaning and inspection of the column wheel and its teeth, coupling lever, horizontal wheel, and reset hammer. Lubrication points differ from those of a conventional lever-actuated chronograph. We service the Heuer 02 fully in-house.
