Every Cartier movement fully disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned, inspected under magnification, lubricated with the correct oils for each component, and reassembled to specification. Timing regulated on a machine across multiple positions. Covers Cal 1847 MC, Cal 1904 MC, ETA-based calibres, and vintage Cartier movements.
The cabochon sapphire crown is Cartier's most recognisable design detail — and a critical sealing point. The crown tube, stem, and setting are inspected during every service. Where water resistance is required (Pasha, Ballon Bleu, Santos 100m), the correct gasket is fitted and the watch pressure-tested after case closure. Cabochon replacement sourced where required.
Many Cartier references — Tank Solo, Tank Française, Santos Dumont, Panthère, Ronde Solo quartz — run on quartz movements. Battery replacement requires the correct tools for the case back type (smooth, notched, or screwed). We test the new cell before installation and inspect for any corrosion or leakage inside the case.
Cartier uses sapphire crystals across most current references — domed in the Tank, flat in the Santos, curved in the Ballon Bleu. Crystal replacement requires correct case sealing afterwards. We source sapphire replacements and re-seal with new gasket and pressure test where the reference is water-resistant.
The Santos de Cartier's iconic integrated bracelet with exposed screws requires careful disassembly and cleaning. Over time the screw heads, links, and folding clasp can accumulate grime that normal ultrasonic cleaning cannot reach without full bracelet disassembly. We service the Santos bracelet as part of the full movement overhaul.

Every Cartier goes through the same thorough process — from initial assessment to final pressure test.
Initial Assessment
Calibre identified — Cal 1847 MC, 1904 MC, ETA-based, or vintage. Complications catalogued. Movement, case, crystal, cabochon crown, and bracelet condition assessed. Written quote before we open anything.
Pre-Service Pressure Test
Existing water resistance tested before the case is opened — especially important for Pasha, Ballon Bleu, and Santos references. Tells us current gasket condition and whether the crown tube requires attention.
Movement Disassembly
The movement is fully disassembled — every wheel, pinion, jewel, lever, and spring separated. Cal 1904 MC components are handled with the care the in-house architecture requires.
Ultrasonic Cleaning
All metal components ultrasonically cleaned in specialist watch cleaning solution. High-frequency sound waves remove dried lubricant and contaminants from surfaces no tool can reach.
Component Inspection
Every part examined under magnification. Pivot wear, jewel condition, pallet stone geometry, and mainspring condition all assessed. Worn or damaged parts replaced before reassembly.
Lubrication & Reassembly
Each component receives the correct lubricant — escapement, gear train, and keyless work all require different oils. Reassembly follows the specific sequence required by the calibre.
Timing Regulation
Balance wheel regulated on a timing machine across six positions. Results recorded. Cartier's typical spec for automatic calibres is ±10 sec/day; we regulate to better where the movement allows.
Case & Bracelet Cleaning
Case, caseback, and bracelet ultrasonically cleaned. Santos integrated bracelet fully disassembled for cleaning where required. Polishing available on request — we advise based on your Cartier's finish type.
Crown, Cabochon & Gasket Replacement
Cabochon crown tube inspected; gaskets replaced as standard. Case reassembled with correct torque. Where the Cartier reference has a rated water resistance, new gaskets fitted throughout.
Post-Service Pressure Test & Final QC
Water-resistant references pressure-tested after case closure. Result shown to you at collection. Final QC: timing check, crown function, date and complication operation verified.
