Our 10-Step Full Watch Servicing Process

Every watch we service goes through the same thorough process — from initial inspection to final pressure test.

01

Initial Assessment

We inspect the movement condition, case, crystal, crown, and bracelet. Calibre identified. Complications noted. A written condition report forms the basis of your quote — before we open anything.

02

Pre-Service Pressure Test

Before opening the case, we test existing water resistance. This tells us the condition of the current seals and whether gaskets need replacement — important context for the quote.

03

Movement Disassembly

The movement is fully disassembled — every wheel, pinion, jewel, spring, and lever separated. Components are sorted by sub-assembly and catalogued for inspection.

04

Ultrasonic Cleaning

All metal components are placed in an ultrasonic cleaner with specialist watch cleaning solutions. High-frequency sound waves remove dried lubricant, dust, and contaminants from surfaces no tool can reach.

05

Component Inspection

Every part examined under magnification. Pivot wear, jewel damage, spring fatigue, and wheel tooth condition are all assessed. Worn or damaged parts are replaced — noted in your service record.

06

Lubrication & Reassembly

Each component receives the correct lubricant for its function — escapement, gear train, and keyless work all require different oils at different viscosities. The movement is reassembled to manufacturer specification.

07

Timing Regulation

The balance wheel is regulated on a timing machine across multiple positions. Target accuracy depends on the calibre — COSC movements are regulated to ±4 sec/day; standard Swiss movements to ±10 sec/day.

08

Case & Bracelet Cleaning

The case, caseback, and bracelet are ultrasonically cleaned to remove skin oils and grime. Polishing is available on request — we advise whether it's appropriate for the watch before proceeding.

09

Gasket Replacement & Reassembly

Crown, caseback, and crystal gaskets are replaced as standard. The case is reassembled with the correct torque — never hand-tightened. This is the step that restores factory water resistance.

10

Post-Service Pressure Test

The completed watch is pressure tested to verify water resistance is fully restored. Results are shown to you at collection. If the test fails, we identify and fix the cause before return — no exceptions.

Why Full Watch Servicing Matters

A mechanical watch is a precision instrument with hundreds of moving parts. The lubricants inside a movement have a service life — typically 5–7 years under normal conditions, shorter in Singapore's tropical humidity. As oils oxidise and dry out, friction increases across every bearing surface in the gear train. Left unserviced, this accelerates wear on pivots, jewels, and wheel teeth — damage that is expensive to reverse.

Full watch servicing addresses this before damage occurs. A watch that is serviced on schedule will last a lifetime and beyond. A watch that runs on dried lubricant loses accuracy first, then starts to skip and stutter, and eventually stops.

Ultrasonic Cleaning — What It Does

Ultrasonic cleaning is the industry-standard method for cleaning watch components after disassembly. The parts are placed in a tank of specialist cleaning solution and subjected to high-frequency sound waves — typically 40,000 Hz. These waves create microscopic cavitation bubbles that collapse on contact with surfaces, dislodging contaminants from crevices no tool or brush can reach. The result is components that are genuinely clean at a microscopic level, ready for inspection and lubrication.

Pressure Testing — Why It's Non-Negotiable

Every time a watch case is opened — for any reason, including a battery change — the factory seal is broken. A new gasket must be fitted and the watch pressure-tested before it is worn near water. Skipping this step leaves the watch looking fine on the outside while being vulnerable to moisture ingress that causes fogging, short circuits, and corrosion. We test every watch before return and show you the result. If it fails, we fix it.

How Often Should You Service Your Watch?

The standard recommendation is every 5–7 years for mechanical watches. In Singapore, the humidity accelerates lubricant degradation, so every 5 years is the safer interval. Quartz watches need less frequent servicing but benefit from a gasket check every 2–3 years, especially if worn near water. Signs a service is overdue: accuracy drifting more than ±15 sec/day, a stiff or sticky crown, the power reserve noticeably shorter than normal, or any moisture visible under the crystal.

Independent vs. Authorised Service — Which is Right for You?

Authorised service centres are the right choice for watches still under warranty — servicing there preserves manufacturer coverage. For out-of-warranty watches (which is the vast majority of watches brought in for service), an independent workshop with brand experience delivers the same professional standard at significantly lower cost and far shorter turnaround. Our typical turnaround is 7–21 working days. Authorised centres in Singapore typically quote 3–6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does full watch servicing cost in Singapore?

Full watch servicing starts from S$100 for Japanese watches (Seiko, Citizen, Orient). Swiss mid-range (Longines, Hamilton, TAG Heuer, Tudor) from S$280. Swiss luxury (Omega, Breitling, Rolex, Cartier) from S$390–S$450. Grand Seiko Hi-Beat from S$390; Grand Seiko Spring Drive from S$490. Written quote confirmed before any work begins.

How long does full watch servicing take in Singapore?

Standard movement overhaul takes 7–21 working days depending on the brand and calibre. Japanese watches: 7–14 working days. Mid-range Swiss: 7–15 working days. High-end Swiss: 10–21 working days. Chronograph and high complication service takes longer and is quoted individually.

How often should I get my watch fully serviced?

Every 5–7 years for most mechanical watches. In Singapore's humidity, every 5 years is advisable. Signs your watch needs a service: losing or gaining more than ±10 sec/day, stiff crown, reduced power reserve, or moisture under the crystal.

What is included in a full watch service?

Full watch servicing includes: complete movement disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning of all components, inspection and replacement of worn parts, lubrication to manufacturer specification, timing regulation, case and bracelet ultrasonic cleaning, gasket replacement, and waterproof pressure testing before return.

Do I need an appointment for watch servicing?

No appointment needed. Walk in daily between 1:30PM and 7:00PM — including weekends and public holidays. We are at People's Park Complex #03-62, a 1-minute walk from Chinatown MRT Station Exit C.

Which watch brands do you service?

We service all major brands: Rolex, Omega, TAG Heuer, Breitling, Cartier, IWC, Panerai, Longines, Tudor, Hamilton, Seiko, Grand Seiko, Chopard, Franck Muller, Titoni, Citizen, Orient, Tissot, Rado, and more. Vintage watches from the 1960s–1990s are also welcome.

What is ultrasonic cleaning in watch servicing?

Ultrasonic cleaning uses high-frequency sound waves in a specialist cleaning solution to remove dried oil, dust, and contaminants from every component of the movement — including surfaces no tool can reach. It is the industry standard method for cleaning watch parts before reassembly and lubrication.

Why is pressure testing important after a service?

Opening a watch case breaks the factory seal. Without re-testing, the watch may let in moisture — causing condensation, short circuits, or corrosion. We pressure test every watch before return and show you the result. If the test fails, we identify and fix the cause before you leave.

Are you an authorised service centre?

No — we are an independent workshop. For watches under warranty, contact the brand's authorised centre. For out-of-warranty watches, we provide professional-standard servicing at significantly lower cost and with turnaround of 7–21 working days versus 3–6 months at authorised centres.
