What We Service

Reverso swivel expertise, Master calibre service, and Polaris diver water resistance — all under one roof.

🔄
Reverso Swivel Mechanism

The Reverso (1931) reverses on a pivot, held by bearings and a detent spring inside the carriage. Over time the bearings dry out and the detent weakens — the flip becomes stiff or sloppy. We disassemble the case from the carriage, re-lubricate the pivot bearings and detent spring, and verify the reversal action is smooth and positive before reassembly. Quote after inspection.

⚙️
Cal 899 & Cal 822 Overhaul

Cal 899/900 powers the Master Control automatic — 38-hour power reserve, 28,800 vph, date function. Cal 822 is the Reverso's manual-wind movement — 45-hour power reserve, winding tension verified after service. Both calibres use JLC in-house manufactured components including jewels, balance wheels, and mainsprings. From S$550.

🌊
Polaris 200m Diver Service

The Polaris Automatic is rated to 200m (ISO 6425 compliant). Every service that opens the case requires complete gasket replacement — crown, caseback, crystal — and a pressure test to 200m before return. We also inspect the unidirectional bezel click mechanism and internal bezel ring for wear. Quote after assessment.

💎
Reverso Crystal Replacement

The Reverso Tribute Duoface has two crystals — front and rear — on opposing faces of the case. Both crystals and their gaskets are replaced as a pair during service to ensure water resistance integrity. On display-back Reverso references, the caseback crystal must be replaced if scratched to maintain the movement view.

🕰️
Atmos Clock Service

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos winds itself from ambient temperature changes as small as 1°C — no manual winding or batteries needed. Service involves cleaning the movement, re-lubricating the temperature-sensitive bellows mechanism and escapement, and re-balancing the torsion pendulum. Rare expertise. Quote after assessment.

Why Choose watchrepair.com.sg

01
Reverso Swivel Expertise

The Reverso swivel mechanism is not standard watchmaking — it requires disassembly of the case from the carriage, specific bearing lubrication, and detent spring knowledge. We have handled Reverso mechanisms across all generations, from 1930s vintage to current production.

02
Written Quote Before Any Work

Free assessment. Written quote. You approve before we open the case. The price quoted is the price you pay — no additions on collection.

03
Significantly More Affordable

JLC authorised service centres charge a significant premium. Our independent workshop provides the same professional standard at a fraction of that cost — the same calibre knowledge, none of the brand markup.

04
Polaris Pressure Tested

Every Polaris service includes full gasket replacement and a pressure test to 200m. We don't assume water resistance holds after opening — we verify it every time.

05
Open 7 Days

1:30PM–7PM daily, including weekends and public holidays. 1 minute from Chinatown MRT Exit C.

06
Complication Knowledge

Perpetual calendars, Duomètre dual-regulator mechanisms, and Atmos clock service require specialist knowledge JLC has accumulated since 1833. We bring that same precision approach to every JLC piece.

How Often Should You Service Your Jaeger-LeCoultre?

Every 5–7 years for Master Control and standard JLC automatic models. Reverso models: inspect the swivel mechanism when the flip action feels stiff — don't wait for the full 7-year cycle if the pivot is running dry, as bearing wear progresses rapidly once lubrication depletes. Polaris diver: inspect water resistance annually if used for actual diving.

The Reverso — Polo, Pivot, and 1931

In 1931, a British army officer challenged César de Tiel that his watch couldn't survive polo. Jaeger-LeCoultre's response was the Reverso: a case that pivots 180° on a carriage, protecting the dial face inside the case when reversed. The swivelling mechanism uses a pivot with ball bearings and a detent spring that clicks the case into position in each direction. It was built as a sports watch. It became an art deco icon.

The swivel mechanism is what differentiates Reverso service from standard watchmaking. Over 5–10 years, the pivot bearings dry out and the detent spring weakens. The flip becomes stiff, then sloppy, then stops clicking. Correct service means disassembling the case from the sliding carriage, extracting the pivot and bearings, cleaning and re-lubricating with the correct viscosity grease, inspecting the detent spring for fatigue, and reassembling so the flip is smooth, the click is positive, and alignment between case and carriage is correct.

"The Watchmaker's Watchmaker" — JLC Since 1833

Jaeger-LeCoultre was founded in 1833 in Le Sentier, Vallée de Joux — the same Swiss valley that has produced some of the world's most complex watch movements. The nickname "Watchmaker's Watchmaker" is earned: JLC manufactures more than 1,000 distinct movement components entirely in-house, including balance wheels, jewels, mainsprings, and escapements. Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and others have historically used JLC movements in their own complications. In 2000, JLC joined the Richemont Group alongside Cartier, IWC, and Panerai.

Polaris — JLC's Dive Watch Heritage

JLC's dive watch history dates to the 1959 Deep Sea Alarm — a diver with an integrated underwater alarm, remarkable for its era. The current Polaris Automatic continues that heritage at 200m water resistance with ISO 6425 dive watch compliance. The Polaris has a distinctive domed sapphire crystal, a unidirectional internal rotating bezel, and a screw-down crown. Every Polaris service that opens the case requires complete gasket replacement and a 200m pressure test — the same standard we apply to Seamaster, Aquatimer, and Submariner diver services.

Atmos — The Watch That Never Needs Winding

The Atmos clock winds itself from temperature changes as small as 1°C — a temperature differential that compresses or expands a gas capsule, which in turn tensions the mainspring. One degree of temperature change provides enough energy to power the Atmos for two days. The movement runs an incredibly slow 1-beat-per-minute torsion pendulum. Atmos service is rare specialist work: the torsion pendulum must be re-balanced after any disturbance, and the escapement lubricated with minimal oil to avoid affecting the clock's extraordinarily low power consumption.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Jaeger-LeCoultre servicing cost in Singapore?

Movement overhaul starts from S$550 — quote confirmed after assessment. The Reverso swivel mechanism is quoted separately after inspection. Complication service quoted depending on mechanism. JLC authorised centres charge a significant premium; our independent workshop provides the same professional standard at a fraction of that cost.

How long does a Jaeger-LeCoultre service take?

Standard movement overhaul 14–21 working days. Reverso with swivel mechanism service 21–28 working days. Duomètre and high complication service up to 35 working days. Crystal replacement 1–3 working days.

How often should I service my Jaeger-LeCoultre?

Every 5–7 years for standard models. Reverso swivel: inspect when the flip action becomes stiff — don't wait, as dry pivot bearings wear rapidly. Polaris diver: inspect water resistance annually if used for actual diving.

Which Jaeger-LeCoultre calibres can you service?

Cal 899/900 (Master Control automatic, 38-hour power reserve), Cal 822 (Reverso manual wind, 45-hour reserve), Cal 938/939 (Master Compressor), and all JLC complication variants. JLC manufactures components in-house — we verify parts authenticity on sourcing.

Are you an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre service centre?

No — we are an independent workshop. For watches under warranty, contact JLC directly. For out-of-warranty watches, we provide professional service at significantly lower cost with a faster turnaround.

What makes the Reverso different to service?

The Reverso case reverses on pivot bearings inside a carriage, held by a detent spring. Over time, the bearings dry out and the detent weakens. Correct service means disassembling the case from the carriage, re-lubricating the pivot bearings with the right grease viscosity, inspecting the detent spring for fatigue, and reassembling so the flip is smooth and clicks positively in both positions.

Can you service the JLC Polaris diver?

Yes. The Polaris is rated to 200m (ISO 6425). Every service that opens the case requires complete gasket replacement — crown, caseback, crystal — and a pressure test to 200m before return. We also inspect the unidirectional bezel click mechanism for wear.

Can you service the Reverso Duoface?

Yes. The Reverso Tribute Duoface has dials on both faces. Service covers the movement, the swivel mechanism, and both front and rear crystals with their gaskets. Allow 21–28 working days.
